Nick Ball vs. TJ Doheny – Boxing Betting Prediction
NICK Ball and TJ Doheny face off in Liverpool later this evening as Ball defends his WBA featherweight title against the experienced Irishman.
Ball (1/16) has established himself as an active champion, refusing to sit and wait around, positioning himself as a possible future opponent for pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue. With Inoue shopping around for the likes of Alan Picasso and Ramon Cardenas, there is no reason Ball cannot get the shout if and when Inoue moves up.
Doheny (9/1) was last seen in the ring with Inoue. The southpaw gave a good account of himself before withdrawing injured in round seven. The sight of TJ hobbling around holding his hip in pain should not be the lasting image of a proud road warrior who has won titles on the road. Ball, however, will be looking to repeat the Inoue trick, possibly even sooner to make a statement.
Moving up in weight, facing a power-punching wrecking ball, Doheny could soon feel every last second of his 38 years. Doheny is wily, clever and will catch Ball with shots when he’s least expecting it. That said, once Ball gets into a rhythm, the hard blows are likely to catch up with the visitor down the stretch.
